It all started back in 1975...........

Tich Paul, renowned South African surfboard shaper opened LIFESTYLE SURFSHOP to showcase the boards he was producing and share the stoke of the surfing lifestyle.
Muizenberg corner was chosen as the venue, because of it’s popularity in the 60’s longboard era and the fact the safe beach and long lines made it an outstanding place to learn to surf.

Ironically the famous old “Milly's Coffee Shop” which was the hang out in the 60’s for many a surfer, was our first shop. Hang Ten was the surfwear brand and Zero wetsuits the rubber of choice.
1979
With ever increasing success LIFESTYLE needed to expand and took over the bigger premises of Dankers Building next door. By this stage we had become the leading surfboard brand in the Western Cape and just about every surfer was surfing or had surfed a Tich Paul surfboard.

1981
We purchased Dankers Building and with the advent of windsurfing, and Tich Paul becoming one of the leading custom windsurf boards, we introduced the Magic Shot label as our primary surfboard label, to spearhead our surfing identity. Magic Shot boards are still to this day one of Lifestyle’s bestsellers.
1986
With the need for more space, we demolished Dankers building and rebuilt our existing store during the winter months.
Since then we have tweaked and continue to tweak and modify our store to keep us in the forefront of being “THE SURFERS SURFSHOP”
2023
Fast forward almost 40 years and the stoke is still alive. The Tich Paul label has been resurrected, and while Tich is still in the business, his son Craig, is busy writing the next chapters, living the lifestyle with his own signature “York” surfboard brand, aptly named after the street we have been trading in for so many years.

LIFESTYLE has always been known as a hardcore manufacturing store. While 50% of our more than 350 surfboards in stock are our in house brands comprising MAGIC SHOT, NGTV, TICH PAUL and YORK, we also endeavour to stock every other label, both local and international, worth it’s salt in South Africa.
